This morning, the Ministry of Health and Population organized a training course for pharmacists to introduce the basics of health economics, believing in the role of economic analysis in improving the performance of health care systems and achieving the goals of sustainable development 2030. The course will continue for two days, at the Fatima Academy for Vocational Medical Education. The training course was held with the participation of lecturers Dr. Islam Annan, professor of drug economics and pharmacoepidemiology at Ain Shams University, and Dr. Ahmed Ibrahim, lecturer of health economics at the Arab Academy, and in the presence of 500 pharmacists from all hospitals affiliated with the ministry at the level of the Republic, with actual attendance and "live broadcasting online". Dr. Ihab Kamal, Assistant Minister of Health for Vocational Medical Education, explained that training courses have been developed in health economics, to introduce health policy frameworks and their role in developing the health system, the economic impact of public health initiatives on the health of citizens, and how to choose the appropriate drug based on its effectiveness and its therapeutic and economic efficiency. . Dr. Ihab Kamal indicated that 3,417 pharmacists were trained in all hospitals nationwide during the current year, including 1035 pharmacists who were trained in clinical pharmacy, and 110 pharmacists were trained on the basics of clinical pharmacy practice, in cooperation with the Faculty of Pharmacy, Helwan University, in addition to 1842 Pharmacist on drug interactions and side effects of drugs. Dr. Islam Annan, professor of pharmacoeconomics and pharmacoepidemiology at Ain Shams University, said that health economics means how to make a decision based on knowledge to achieve the desired results, while pharmacoeconomics is concerned with how to calculate the desired clinical results from using the drug with the corresponding financial cost, and the consequences It has to reduce the wastage from drug consumption in Egypt, noting that the health goals of Egypt’s Vision 2030 are based on caring for the citizen’s health and reducing disease rates, which confirms the importance of presidential initiatives for public health and the selection of appropriate health programs to prevent the early spread of diseases and the selection of the appropriate drug to achieve the best results at the lowest cost. , citing what happened in the C virus initiative.
